I don't know, but it seems like the wifi shuts off in sleep mode, as far as I can tell. Maybe it stays on if there is an active download. If I am downloading a movie and I put my PC on hibernate will the downloading continue? In which computer mode will downloading continue? If I am downloading a game on laptop and I put my laptop on sleep mode will the download continue?

These days internet speeds are fast enough where you’ll be able to download huge files in considerably shorter amounts of time than before. However we guess no one likes waiting, and if you are trying to download games from the eShop on your Nintendo Switch, you might want to try this little trick.
AdvertisingAs you can see in the video above put together by the folks at GameXplain, it seems that it has been noticed that if you were to put the Nintendo Switch in sleep mode, you will be able to download games faster compared to normal. The exact metrics are unclear since it is difficult to judge as sleep mode does not let you check your progress, but the tests conducted have found that your downloads should be faster by around 15% versus if your console is in use.
Granted 15% isn’t exactly a huge figure, but it is faster and if you’re looking to shave some time off on downloads, especially those bigger files, we guess it does help a bit. It is possible that in sleep mode, other processes aren’t being used so the focus would be on the download, thus the increase in speed.
It is also why it has been theorized that if you were to put your phone in airplane mode and turn off all connections, your phone should in theory charge faster. In any case this is something you might want to think about if you are looking to improve your download speeds on the Switch.

The Nintendo Switch is out and should be in the hands of a few millions gamers. With any console launch, there is a period where people are simply learning the basic functionality of the console. The Switch is no different, but its hybrid handheld/console nature adds some complexity. Some things that should be simple to understand are actually a bit confusing, so we put together a couple of short guides. Here’s how to turn off Nintendo Switch, or put it into Sleep Mode.
You can put the console into two power modes, either turning it off completely, or putting it into Sleep mode. The latter allows the game to be preserved, jumping right back in with the push of a button. So, we’ll start with that and move to completely turning off later on.

To put Nintendo Switch to sleep you can either press the power button on the tablet, if you’reusing it in handheld mode, or press and hold the Home Button to access a quick menu. Alternatively you can go back to the Home Menu and select the System Settings, but the Quick Menu is much easier. Once the Quick Menu loads you can just hit the Sleep option, or change settings like Brightness and Airplane Mode.
To turn off Nintendo Switch completely you do need to have physical access to the tablet, pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds. Doing this will bring up a special Power Menu where you can decide to put it to Sleep or just shut down completely. This will end whatever game you’re playing, so make sure you’ve saved.
