About This Game:
Honey Select is a virtual reality eroge video game, made by Illusion in 2015. It is not distributed outside Japan.

Its gameplay is similar to Illusion’s eroge game Play Club. Players can create or modify virtual models of men and women in great detail, and then direct them to perform a variety of pornographic and fetishistic scenes.

In the view of Destructoid’s reviewer, the game achieved its goal of becoming “the most polished VR room-scale sex simulator on the market”. But he noted that playing the game was not a particularly erotic experience, given its exceptionally complicated controls.

Thanks, I hadn't though about that. After playing around a bit, turns out that the problem is that effects aren't being applied. Hitting ctrl-f5 did nothing, nor did changing it in the ini file.

To check, I went into the classic studio. Turning off effects made it look identical to the NEO studio. Also, it might be worth mentioning that, just like with the vanilla game, the game's built-in effects don't work in VR.

edit: might also have something to do with the 4k/graphics patch not working with NEO, or at least not working in VR.

edit2: downloaded an updated version of the patch, have more details. While NEO is loading, I get a weird strobing double-image of the loading screen. One image is fixed, does not strobe, and does not have any effects applied to it. The second image follows my gaze, strobes intermittently, and does have effects applied to it. When it finishes loading, however, no effects are applied to the UI or any models I load. If I go into the settings for the graphics patch, I can add ridiculous bloom/saturation/etc, but those effects only apply to the weird strobing load screen, and never affect the models themselves.
